1. Project introduction:
The PLC controlled pendulum impact testing machine is a new type of impact testing machine product that our company first introduced in China in the late 1990s. It involves iron and steel metallurgy, machinery manufacturing, colleges and universities, scientific research institutes and other fields. 3. According to the standard:
JB-S500 digital pendulum impact testing machine is designed by our company in strict accordance with GB/T3038-2002 "Inspection of Pendulum Impact Testing Machine" and GB/T229-2020 "Charpy Notch Impact Test Method for Metals", according to JJG145- 82 "pendulum impact testing machine" factory inspection.
4. Program description:
The unique appearance of this product is novel, beautiful and generous; in terms of structure, the pendulum suspension adopts a simply supported beam structure, and the force mode is more reasonable; in terms of transmission, a standard reducer is used to replace the original pulley, worm and worm gear, and the structure is more Simple; in terms of electrical appliances, the equipment is controlled by Panasonic's PLC programmable controller, and replaces most of the original mechanical limiters with photoelectric proximity switches, with strong anti-interference ability, accurate test data and more reliable performance; reliable safety pins The device and the novel guardrail make the operator safer; the door type strong electric panel makes the maintenance easier. The working principle of the equipment is to use a high-precision photoelectric encoder and a liquid crystal display with a special measurement and control card to detect the impact absorption energy and the impact toughness of the material by detecting the difference between the potential energy before and after the impact of the pendulum. The display mode is dual display: the dial pointer and the liquid crystal display are displayed at the same time; the liquid crystal display can not only display the impact absorption energy, impact toughness, but also automatically process the test data and automatically generate the test report. The action control of taking the pendulum, withdrawing the pin, impacting, and placing the pendulum can be controlled manually by the manual control box, or automatically controlled by the mouse input by using the LCD program, and the test results can be printed in batches or one by one. The action of the pendulum is controlled by the industrial Siemens PLC control system. The high-precision rotary encoder is used to obtain the real-time position of the pendulum. This machine is equipped with electronic refrigeration and heat preservation equipment designed and produced according to the requirements of GB229-2020 "Charpy Notch Impact Test Method for Metals" standard for low temperature test. This equipment has no chemical pollution, no noise, small size, simple operation and high control precision. It is an ideal sample cooling and heat preservation equipment in the impact test of metal materials, and can also be used for other low temperature detection and testing. The working principle is to use semiconductor electronic components to generate temperature difference when energized. When the heat in the high temperature area is continuously taken away, in order to maintain the temperature difference between the low temperature area and the high temperature area, the temperature of the area will be continuously lowered to play the role of cooling and cooling.
5. Working principle:
The equipment adopts Panasonic PLC as the lower computer control, and the liquid crystal display control as the upper computer control, completes the data exchange and instruction transmission between the upper and lower computers.    JB-500S  is developed as per GB/T3808-2002 <Inspection of Pendulum impact testing machine>, and can finish impact test according to GB/T229-2020<Method of Metal Charpy Gap Impact Test>. It can realize two kinds of impact energy 500J and 250J. The section area of specimen is 10×10mm. mainly use to test larger impact toughness ferrous metal, such as: steel and alloy material.
Its principle is to calculate difference of the energy before and after pendulum impacting, the difference is energy which absorbed by specimen. The machine can be operated by semiautomatic, easy to operate, and high efficiency. Furthermore, it can swing up the pendulum automatically by using residual energy. It is especially suitable for continuous test.

  1. Electrical control principle
1.  Taking pendulum
Pressing pushbutton 1AN to activate contactor 1C for connecting motor LD, through breaker 1J,2J,3J and clutch CH; After the pendulum raising the highest position, the  microswitch 1WK is toughed to stop the motor, the other electrical units are restored and the security pin is pulled out.
2.  Returning the pin
Pressing the pushbutton 2AN,the security pin is returned.
3.  Impact
Pressing the pushbutton 4AN,the electrical-magnetic block DT is powered to fall down pendulum for impacting, all electrical units are restored.
4.  Auto-raising pendulum
After electrical power is switched on, the servo motor DS is rotating counterclockwise, in such case the drived point Kb is in breaking down position, when the pendulum is in stop position or is rotating along falling down direction, the point Kb could be not powered. When the pendulum is rotating up, the rotating angle is large than servo motor angle, point Kb is powered and powered relays 1J and 2J. When pendulum angle is falling down to small than servo motor angle, the point Kb is off, and the relay 3J activates, at the same time the clutch CH and contactor IC are powered, to rotate driven motor for raising pendulum.
5.  Switch K2 is security one, and the pushbutton 3AN is falling pendulum pushbutton.
  1. Installation and trial operation
  1. After removing the package and cleaning the oiled body, the testing machine should be moved to the prepared foundation. The machine base should be adjusted within 0.5/1000 with level adjuster and then fix foundation bolt.
  2. Inspect all parts are whether in good condition and rotating parts should be flexible.
Connect the power supply with 380V, 50HZ, 3 phrase 4 lines .
  1. Insert the pin of the push-button case into the socket.
  2. Switch on power supply, indication lamp is light up. The servo motor of signal equipment is rotated counterclockwise (looking from working position).
  3. Connect the power supply, and push the switch on the manual control box at "on" position. Press pushbutton "driving pendulum", the pendulum should be rotated anticlockwise,(if find the pendulum is rotated clockwise, the testing machine must be stopped immediately for changing the phase) when the pendulum rising up at the fixed position, press the limit position switch, the motor should be stopping rotating, the electric-magnetic clutch should be unload, the pendulum is hanged on pendulum mechanism by its weight. When it is necessary for "Releasing pendulum", press the pushbutton "Releasing pendulum" on the manual control box (or apply the computer "Releasing pendulum" program to control), the electric-magnetic iron is powered, the electric-magnetic clutch is engaged. The motor is rotating and pendulum is returned clockwise. When it rotates at plumb position, relief the pushbutton and the pendulum is stopped.
  4. Pointer zeroing: When the pendulum is hanging freely motionless, the pointer should be at the position of maximum energy. After adjusting, lock tightly the bolt on pointer.
  5. Check energy loss( operate according to the computer software instruction manual ):
After adjusting the position of the string pointer and clock hand, firstly, driving pendulumàhanging pendulum, the pendulum is in load free left and right. When it goes up the maximum height left position, the pointer must be moved with hand back to left limit position of reading dial (notice not to touch driving pointer). After the pendulum second time returns the pointer to the right position of the reading dial, the indication value must be written on. The difference between the two times should be divided with 2 (the first time must be returned to zero), The value is the energy lost in dry friction during one time impact pendulum. The energy loss is not large than 1.5 joule for the pendulum with 500 joule and the energy loss is not large than 0.75 joule for the pendulum with 250 joules.

  1. Operation and maintenance
  1. The machine must be load free operation to impact whether the machine in normal condition (the manner carried out to the item 5-8 of "installation and trial operation"). If security pin could not remused, and pressing the pushbutton "WITHDRAW" to resume the security pin.
  2. The pendulum with 300J and 150J can be selected according to energy requirement. When changing the pendulum, the fixed screw (6) must be screwed out, the disassemler could be inserted into the slot of pendulum rod block, and move screw rod to contact the surface of pendulum rod, the pendulum block could be withdraw out for changing required pendulum.
  3. The contacted length between pendulum hanger and pendulum mechanism is about 3-4mm. (the product could not be adjusted, it is well for shipment). If it is necessary to adjust, the hanger (3) position would be moved.
  4. When the pendulum has not hunge on the up-and-down device during the time of up-and-down, the operator should not moved and work aroung the pendulum to prevent dangerous from the accidental cut down.
  5. The bearing at the ends of the pendulum has got oiled before selling out,so the user needs not oil it. After repairing and cleaning, drops of sewing sol or watching oil can be put. Other bearing can put Vaseline or butter.
  6. The distance between the iron of electric-magnetic clutch (7) and magnetic yoke is 0.8-1.5mm. This has been adjusted when selling out. If the adjusting is needed, to open the cover (13) firstly, loosen the screw (15) of the nut (14),then insert a round rod into the round hole of the adjusting nut, move the adjusting nut or belt wheel so that the three steel balls can not contact with the surface of the magnetic yoke. In the case of cut-down the steel ball may rub the surface of the magnetic yoke, and may result the excessive loss of energy. So the screw of the adjusting nut must be tighten after the space is adjusted.
  7. After the completion of the test, press pendulum button 3AN,the pendulum should put down on the position of the plumb and loosen the button, cut the power.
  1. Reading and calculation
The function of the indication mechanism is to indicate the max and min of energy that absorbed by the specimen.
The following formulas are used to calculate the value of energy of specimen which done by the pendulum:
AV= M(cosβ-cosα)
In the formula:
M --- The torch moment of the pendulum
α--- The up angle of the pendulum before the impact
β--- The raising angle of the pendulum after the breaking of the specimen
If the friction loss and the air resistance are ignored, the energy consumed in breaking the specimen is equal to the energy the pendulum has before impacting subtract the energy the pendulum left after impacting.
As the torque moment M of the impacting pendulum and the up angle of the pendulum α before impacting are constant, only if the raising angle β of pendulum after breaking specimen is known, the energy consumed in breaking specimen can be calculated by the above formula. The  AV value of each raising angle β can be calculated by optical-electro coder and computer, at the same time, they can be display, save and print out. In order to visual display, we carve the AV value of the raising angle β on the dial. Thus the energy consumed in breaking the specimen can be read directly from the computer or dial and need not to calculate. When the error value between the computer display data and dial pointer is within 5% of the maximum initial location capability, take the computer display data as standard.
As there is a groove in the specimen, the cross-section surface area is not equal to 100 mm²; therefore the value read in the scale after impacting means not the unit impacting toughness. To gain the aV value of unit impacting toughness of the material, the data got after testing should be divided by the cross-section surface area of the specimen in the groove:
aV=AV/F(J/cm2)
F=0.8cm² when doing the impacting test of the standard specimen.

The hook dashes on the damping rod, the motor has stopped work, but the pendulum does not drop on the hook, press the pushbutton "impacting", the electric -magnetic clutch has been working but the pendulum does not "Releasing pendulum" The iron of the electric-magnetic clutch (7) can't break away;
1. the end faces of the iron and the force of the key groove exceeds the spring force
2.The spring force is small or fatigue.
3.The electric brush contacts badly.
1.Open the cover (13) (fig.1), put a few drops of lubricating oil in the end face key and the key groove and move it with screw driver for a few times.
2. Change the spring.
3.Repair the electric brush.
 
Vibrates terribly when hanging up the pendulum. 1.the spring force of the damping rod is too small.
2.the space between the round top of the hook (8) and the damping rod  is too large.
1.change one new spring.
2.adjust the space, turn the board of the switch and the screw so as the damping rod reaches 0.1-0.5mm.
Vibrates terribly when set pendulum 1.the belt is loosen.
2.the screw on the upper of the motor (18) seat is not tighten.
3.the space of the worm gear transmission is too large or the central distance is too large.
1.Tighten squared bolt, and locknut.
2.Take off servo motor seat, adjust space of three top screw. If damage heavily or too big center distance, pls change worm wheel or worm pole.
Pendulum while hang locates at the left of plumb, combined to electromagnetic clutch, and clash very heavily. Singal mussily,
1. touching clip and touching pin touch not well.
2. there is oil trail on the surface of touching clip and touching pin.
1.remove the parts touching clip and touching pin and clean them with acetone.
2.the ends gap of touching pin can be not face the contact surface of the groove of touching clip.
When releasing pendulum to vertical line position, not stop. The toucher do not release. Clean 2C toucher armature.
